Dear customers,
The information about COVID-19 currently coming from the Government is very confusing for all of us. Official websites state that outdoor gatherings of 500 people or less are permitted but comments in the media say that Non-essential Travel is not recommended. At The Steps Barrington, we understand how important escaping into nature can be for your body and soul. We also understand that these are extraordinary times and that we all need to do our bit to keep the vulnerable in our community safe. Until we are directed to close, we will keep the campground open. Additional measures that we are taking to keep us all safe Campers will be arranged on the campground at a maximum distance from one another so that social distancing can be easily maintained. Maximum camping numbers are also being reduced. We ask that you use our online check-in form and go directly to the campground without stopping at our office or in Gloucester. If you are going into Gloucester/Barrington for supplies, please ensure that you practice social distancing and rigorous hygiene. The amenities block: this is the highest risk of spreading COVID-19 during your time at The Steps. We ask that you wash your hands with soap at the wash up station before entering the toilet block or touching any part of the toilet block. Then wash your hands again before departing. Bottles of disinfectant will be supplied at the toilet block for you to use in between staff cleans. If you have access to disposable gloves, please bring them with you and use them in the amenities block. Social distancing must be practiced in the amenities block. Only use every second stall. If the stalls are in use when you enter, wait outside and keep yourself a minimum of 1.5m from any others waiting. Refunds and Postponements As you can imagine, this situation has hit our family business very hard. All of our school camps have been cancelled and now camping is also being questioned. We were still trying to recover from drought and bushfires when this latest crisis hit. For this reason, we are kindly asking for those that choose not to come to postpone their booking rather than cancel them. Our 28 day cancellation period for Easter has been waived and we will offer you a refund (less 10% administration fee) or postponement for up to 6 months. If we are still in the same position as a community in 6 months, then these postponements will be extended. We understand that many of you are also hurting financially and that a postponement may not be possible. Home Schooling Please be aware that our own children are now home from school and that we will not be available on the phone at all times. Please leave a message or send an email and we will get back to you each afternoon. We would like to thank you all for your support of The Steps Barrington and we hope to see you all again in the not too distant future. All the best to you and your love ones, stay well and safe and wash your hands! Kind regards, Naomi and Brian Kilby |
